Assitant Professor, Strategy & Entrepreneurship | PhD, Stanford University | Fulbright Scholar
I am an Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon. I did my PhD from Stanford University's Management Science and Engineering department. I was working in the STVP (Stanford Technology Ventures Program) group. My research lies in the intersection between entrepreneurship and organizational theory. In particular, my research aims to explore how different institutional contexts foster or deter entrepreneurial activities and an entrepreneur’s career in the long run. Methodologically, I use field experiments, natural experiments, and advanced econometric analysis in my research. My research agenda contributes to entrepreneurship and strategy literature by establishing causal inference and improving our theoretical understanding of how institutions influence entrepreneurs and their ventures.
Prior to joining Stanford, I received my MBA from Goizueta Business School, Emory University, as a Fulbright Scholar. I also worked as a lecturer and Assistant Professor at the University of Dhaka, the premier university in my home country - Bangladesh.
I received several awards and scholarships for my research and teaching, such as Lieberman Fellowship, Stanford Centennial Teaching Assistant Award, Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED) Ph.D. I-Award, Stanford Center for South Asia (CSA) Fellowship, Stanford King Center on Global Development Student Fellowship, Mckenzie Fellowship, and Heitz Fellowship among others.
